HELLO EVERYONE!
I am the 6th-8th grade Functional Skills/Autism teacher at SAMS. This is my 6th year teaching and my 2nd year teaching at SAMS and teaching Functional Skills. Previous to teaching functional skills, I was an Inclusion EC teacher in ELA and Math.
I moved to Asheboro in January 2014 to start my teaching career. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Baldwin Wallace University; located in Berea, Ohio. I have my teaching licenses in General Education K-5 and Mild/Moderate Educational Needs K-12 and Severe/Profound Educational Needs K-12 as well as Middle Grades Math 4-9. In 2019, I was voted SAMS 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year.
In the past, I co-taught Middle School English Language Arts and Mathematics. As the EC Teacher, it was my responsibility to provide instructional support for all students in the inclusion environment.
During my time as an educator, I have served on several committees, including PBIS and RtI, as well as coached the middle school girls' soccer team and served as the Athletic Director. I have also served as an advisor for many student clubs in the past, including Woof Gang and Student Council. I am currently a member of our school's Special Olympics Committee. I also currently support the Athletic Director and am responsible for maintaining the concession stand for all home athletic events throughout the year.
My hobbies include going on outdoor adventures and hammocking with Zeus (my dog), playing and coaching soccer, painting canvases, and tie dying. I love to travel to new places and try new things to eat.
I am very excited to work at SAMS and I hope that it will be an amazing year. You can contact me by email, [email protected], or by calling SAMS, (336) 629-4141. Please call the front office and leave me a detailed voicemail if I am not available.
